May 2010 The Consumer Prices Index in Phnom Penh increased by 0.2% from April to May 2010. Over the last twelve months prices have increased 4.5%. In April the rate of inflation was 5.3%. The Consumer Price Index for May 2010 has been calculated at 135.2. April to May 2010From April to May 2010 prices for food increased 0.3% which contributed by 0.2% units. Prices for pork increased 1.4% and contribution by 0.1% units. Price for fish and seafood increased 2.3% and contributed by 0.2% units. Price for purchase of vehicle increased 1.0% and contribution by 0.1% units. Main increased prices for food group due to increased price for pork fish and seafood and purchase of vehicle. May 2009 to May 2010 Of the total consumer price increased by 4.5% from May 2009 to May 2010, 1.9% units were due to increased prices by 3.9% for food and non-alcoholic beverages and contribution by 1.9% units. Prices for food increased by 3.9% and contributed by 1.9% units. Price for the rice increased 4.4% and contribution by 0.4% units. Price for traditional cakes increased by 7.9% and price for pork increased 1.6% and contributed by 0.1% units each. In addition, the price for fish and seafood increased by 8.5% and contributed by 0.8% units. Price for mill cheese and eggs increased by 2.1% and oils and fats increased by 5.1% and contributed by 0.1% units each. Price for vegetables increased by 8.9% and contributed by 0.4% units. Price for sugar jam honey chocolate and confectionery increased by 23.1% and contributed by 0.3% units. Price for food products increased by 3.4% and contribution by 0.1% units. Price for clothing and footwear increased 2.4% and contributed by 0.1% units. Price for housing water electricity gas and other fuels increased by 5.3% and contribution by 0.8% units. The price group of health increased by 2.6% and contributed by 0.1% units. Price for transport increased by 9.3% and contribution by 1.0% units. Main increased in this group was due to increase for price fuel and lubricants for personal transport equipment increased by 27.3% and contribution by 0.9% units. Price for recreation and culture increased by 2.2% and contribution by 0.1% units. Price for restaurants increased 3.0% and miscellaneous goods and services increased by 10.7% and contributed by 0.2% units each. The main increased for all index group 4.5% rate of inflation in May 2010 was due to group of food and non alcoholic beverages; clothing and footwear; household water, housing water electricity gas and other fuels; health; transport; education; restaurants and miscellaneous goods services and personal effects.
