The Consumer Prices Index in Phnom Penh decreased 0.1% from November to December 2009. Over the last twelve months prices have increased 5.3%. In November the rate of inflation was 1.3%. The Consumer Price Index for December 2009 has been calculated at 134.0.

November to December 2009

From November to December 2009 prices for food decreased 1.0% which contributed by -0.5% units to the overall 0.1% decrease of consumer prices. The price for fish and seafood decreased 2.2% and contributed by -0.2% units. The main decreased prices for vegetables group was decreased 6.1% and contributed by 0.3% units to the overall 10.2% decreased of the fruit vegetables.  

 

December 2008 to December 2009Of the total consumer price increase by 5.3% from December 2008 to December 2009, 2.7%  units were due to increased prices 5.4% for food and non-alcoholic beverages and contribution by 2.7% units. The prices for food increased by 5.4% and contributed by 2.6% units. For the increased prices for traditional cake by 13.7% and contributed by 0.1% units. Price for pork increased 4.6% and contributed by 0.3% units. Price for beef increased by 7.7% and contribution by 0.2% units and chicken increased by 10.2% and contributed by 0.1% units. In addition, the price for fish and seafood increased by 16.9% and contributed by 1.5% units. The price for fresh fish increased 22.3% and contribution by 1.4% units.  The price milk cheese and eggs increased by 4.5% and contribution by 0.1% units. For the price for fruits increased by 1.3% and vegetables increased by 1.4 and contributed by 0.1%  by units each. Price for sugar jam honey chocolate and confectionery increased by 23.9% and contributed by 0.3% units. Price for food products increased by 3.1% and contribution by 0.1% units. Price for non alcoholic beverages, increased by 4.4 % and contribution by 0.1% units. Price for alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased 10.3% and contributed by 0.1%  units. Price for clothing and footwear increased 2.6% and contributed by 0.1% units. The price of household water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased by 2.0% and contribution by 0.3% units. The price of services for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling increased by 17.3% and contributed by 0.1% units and price for electricity, gas and other fuels increased by 3.9% and contribution by 03% units. Price for gas increased by 22.0% and contribution by 0.5% units. Price for furnishings household maintenances increased by 4.8% and contribution by 0.1% units. The price group of health increased by 5.8% and contributed by 0.3% units. The price medical products and equipment increased by 5.5% and contribution by 0.2% units. The price hospital service increased by 6.2% and contribution by 0.1% units. Price transport increased by 11.9% and contribution by 1.2% units. Main increased in this group was due to increase for price purchase of vehicles increased by 4.6% and contribution by 0.3% units. For the operation of personal transport equipment group increased by 24.4% and contributed by 0.9% units. and transport services increased by 6.2% and contribution by 0.1% units. Price for education increased 8.9% and contributed by 0.1% units. The price group of restaurants increased 3.8% and contributed by 0.3% units. Price for miscellaneous goods and services increased by 11.3% and contribution by 0.2% units. The main increased for all index group 5.3% rate of inflation in December 2009 was due to group of food and non alcoholic beverages and alcoholic beverages and tobacco, clothing and footwear, furnishings household maintenances, price group of  health, price operation of personal transport equipment, education, restaurants and miscellaneous goods services.
